I found a (possibly ancient) command line tool that seems like the right kind of idea, called gifsicle, but if there's a nicer GUI tools someone knows of that I should try first, I'd rather go with that. Making a GIF animation with gifsicle is easy: gifsicle -delay10 -loop. My searching has mostly turned up online gif editors, which is not really suited to what I'm trying to do. Even so, it may still be my best option just because it's at least automatable. Photoshop want's to load and convert every frame to a layer when a gif is opened, and then re-optimize every (completely unchanged) frame when the gif is saved, so it would spend a lot of extra time doing completely unnecessary work. The last frame should have a delay of 400ms, Second to last 200ms, everything else 50ms. Photoshop would almost be a good candidate, but unfortunately it can't just change the frame delay number without loading the entire gif. Hey, Im trying to adjust the frame delay on existing GIFs with Gifsicle. Is there any Windows based GUI or command line software that can do this speed change easily? Here's an example of the average resolution and duration. where anim.gif and animtrans.gif are the source and destination file names, and ffffff is the hex code of the color you want to make transparent (here, pure white). That likely sounds weird, and it is a bit, but I've been using gifs to capture little slices of gameplay from a game I'm working on. You can do this with GIFsicle, using the following options: gifsicle -U -disposalprevious -transparent'ffffff' -O2 anim.gif > animtrans.gif. I have a few hundred MB of gifs I've created with a 0.04 ms frame delay, and I would like to batch convert them to 0.03 ms frame delay. d, -delay TIME Set frame delay to TIME (in 1/100sec). Animation options: Also -no-OPTION and -same-OPTION. no-comments, -no-names, -no-extensions Remove comments (names, extensions) from input. You can of course run it on other folders, or add it to the system path, and run it wherever. extension N D Add an extension number N with data D. This will convert all gifs found in the gifsicle.exe folder to have 3ms delay for all frames.
